CHEETAHS MAUL LYNX: Roch sets another record

QUARTERBACK JEREMI ROCH SET THE ALL-TIME VANIER RECORD FOR PASSING YARDS TO LEAD THE CHEETAHS TO A CONVINCING 42-3 VICTORY OVER THE EDOUARD-MONTPETIT LYNX THIS PAST SATURDAY. ROCH PASSED THE LATE KRISTIN PIPE, WHO PLAYED WITH THE CHEETAHS FROM 1996-98, IN ALL-TIME PASSING YARDAGE, BESTING THE OLD MARK OF 4263 YARDS.

After falling behind 3-0 after the first frame, the Cheetahs exploded for 21 second quarter points on their way to 42 unanswered points. Quarterback JĆ©rĆ©mi Roch connected with his favorite target Matthew Norzil (right) at the 1:14 mark of the second quarter on a 22-yard touchdown pass to cap a 9 play – 71 yard drive. Josh MacDuffie kicked his first of 6 converts on the day as Vanier took the lead that they would not relinquish.
Jimmy Mouhteros and Nick Dā€™Andrea contributed a pair of touchdowns on runs of 1-yard and 15-yards respectively as Vanier jumped to a 21-3 advantage. The Cheetahs chalked up a pair of majors in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Jesse Lacle and a 6-yard touchdown toss from Roch to Vincent ClĆ©roux.

Alexandre PichƩ rounded out the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard touchdown reception from back-up quarterback Benoit Lacasse.
The Cheetahs were led on the offense by record-setting quarterback JƩrƩmi Roch (left) who completed 15 of 17 pass attempts for 231 yards. Jesse Lacle paced the running attack with 61 yards on 11 carries for an average of 5.55 yards per carry while Vincent ClƩroux topped all Vanier receivers with 4 catches for 94 yards. Byron Perez-Archambault anchored yet another tremendous defensive effort with 15 total tackles as the Cheetahs remain in a first place tie with F.X. Garneau.
The Cheetahs (7-1) will now face the Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars (3-5) this coming Saturday, October 23rd, at 1:00 p.m. at the Concordia University Football Field. Vanier defeated the Cougars 41-27 back on September 25th in Lennoxville.
