Chilliwack: Atom blues defeat Bears from North Langley, Peewee giants undefeated

The Peewee Blue Giants extended their record to 4-0 with a convincing 44-14 win over the Langley Bears last Saturday.

Running back Emilio Pineda had 8 carries for 147 yards while Gabe Mannes scored 2 TDs on the ground. QB Wyatt Uzick added 3 rushing TD’s and threw a TD strike to Spencer Breslin. Ethan Mastin recovered an onside kick for the Giants and added several tackled on defense. Defensive MVP Michael Lengert had three sacks and a fumble recovery. Game ball recipient Tommy Janzen added a fumble recovery and two sacks in his first start at outside linebacker. Evan McCracken, Adam Phillips and Sureet Pabbi also had sacks for the swarming Giants defense. Langley ended the day with only 29 yards of net offense compared with 339 for Chilliwack. The Giants take on the undefeated Meadow Ridge Knights this Saturday to determine first place in the VCFL.

ATOM

Jalen Edwards opened the game with a 41 yard kickoff return. Andrew Locke finished the drive off with a 20 yard TD run on the next play. What a great way to start. With balanced rushing and receiving, offence faired very well. Defence demolished and special teams kicked… for great yards. Mack Barton –Paquette is the new kicker and averaged about 20 yards a kick though he did have a 33 yarder. QB Brandt Davies is also improving on his completion ratio. He maintained 4 of 6 attempts and also converted a passing convert. Chilliwack Giants Atom Blue (2-3) now sit in the 4th and final playoff spot with 5 games to go.

Jalen Edwards: 97 yards rushing and 2 TDs, 60 yards receiving and 1 TD, 41 yards kickoff return, 1 passing convert catch, 1 solo and 1 assisted tackle on defence.
Andrew Locke: 26 yards rushing for 1 TD on 2 carries, 2 for 2 receiving for 6 yards, 1 kickoff tackle allowing only 1 yard return, and 1 kickoff recovery.
Brandt Davies: 4 passing completions out of 6 for 95 yards, 1convert passing completion for the extra point to #34 Marley Edwards.
Marley also had a convert passing completion to Jalen and 29 yards receiving.
Mack Barton-Paquette: 4 kickoffs for a total of 77 yards, 1 assisted tackle. Offence had 136 yards rushing, 95 yards receiving. (total 231 yards)
Kolton Holt: 7 solo tackles for a loss of 25 yards to opposition and 1 assisted tackle for a loss of 5 yards.
Kole Nelles: 3 solo tackles, 1 K/O solo tackle allowing only 4 yards return, 3 assisted tackles ( 1 for a loss of 5 yards)
Michael Martin: 3 solo tackles for a loss of 5 yards to opposition and 1 assisted tackle.
Liam Dallas: 1 solo and 2 assisted tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery, 6 yards rushing.
James Wetmore: 3 solo tackles (1 for a loss of 3 yards).
Grayson Hardie: 1 solo tackle.
Avery Ade had 1 solo tackle. Maxwell Hunt and Will Dorey had 1 assisted tackle each.
Justin Crooks had 2 assisted tackles and 7 yards rushing on 2 carries.
Defence allowed 118 yards rushing though 104 yards of that came on the last 2 plays of the game. There were no passing attempts.
