Chilliwack: Bantams & junior bantams shut down Langley

The Chilliwack Giants traveled to Langley on September 11, 2010 to face off against Langley. Chilliwack opened the scoring early on short run by Running Back Connor Herman.

Chilliwack controlled the game early adding a 20 yard field goal from Wide Receiver/Kicker Mike Gregory. By the end of the first quarter Chilliwack had a commanding lead 17-0. Chilliwack added another touch down in the 2nd quarter from Quarter Back Nick Westad and Wide Receiver Mike Gregory on a 50 yard pass and run. Chilliwack went into half time leading 24-0. Langley opened the second half trying to take the momentum from Chilliwack scoring its only touch down. Chilliwack countered with a late 3rd quarter play by Safety Maleek Irons when he stepped inside of his opponent and intercepted the pass and dashed 30 yards to the end zone.

Players of the game go to Maleek Irons, Kalem Todhunter and Zak Toews for their outstanding defensive play. The boys played well at times but still struggle to come out and play a full game their next opponent is Mission-Abbotsford. Chilliwack played them in August in a tournament mini and lost 6-0 to Miss-Abby. This should be a great game. Chilliwack will prepare this week to come out and show Miss-Abby that we want a little revenge for that last loss.

JB Red 31-18 over North Langley

The Chilliwack JB Red Giants traveled to Langley this past weekend to face the Bears. It was a hard-hitting game with both teams making some impressive blocks early in the game. However, the Giants moved the ball down the field and ended up winning easily with a 31-18 victory. Thijs Duinveld and Kirkland Kennedy both scored 2 TD’s each and Ryan Connelly who had some impressive runs throughout the day was also able to reach the end zone.
