Chilliwack Giants Blue vs Red Atom

Tristan Davis, Mario Brizuela and Hunter Larocque all scored TDs for the JB Blue Giants last weekend as they took over first place in the VCFL with a 32-0 win over the Chilliwack Red Giants. Brizuela also filled in capably for injured kicker Tyler Sprott hitting 3 of 4 converts. Noah Braun and Chris Derksen led a Blue Giants offensive line that bust open huge holes for the backs all game.

On defense, Vincent Giesbrecht turned in an outstanding effort with a sack and several solo tackles. Safety Hunter Larocque intercepted 2 Red Giants passes while linebackers Harley Kovich Cole Wood and Lane Levesque snuffed out the Red Giants outside speed. “It was our most complete effort as a team” noted Head Coach Mike Derksen, “there is no quit in this group.” Derksen noted that the undersized Blue Giants were not expected to compete the way they have this season. “The fact that we are in first place is completely attributable to the way these boys have bought into our system.” The Giants next game is Saturday September 25 against the Langley Bears.
