Chilliwack: JB Red Giants posted their first shut out of the season

The Chilliwack JB Red Giants posted their first shut out of the season by defeating the Meadow Ridge Knights 20-0 on rainy Thanksgiving afternoon.

The Giants didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard when Treyvon Walsh was able to scoop up the Giants opening kick off and run it in for a touchdown. On the next offense series, Thijs Duinveld busted through the line and raced 40 yards to paydirt. Kirkland Kennedy accounted for the Giants final touchdown when he powered into the endzone early in the second quarter.

Duncan McCracken and Thijs Duinveld were stand outs on defense, making several key plays, including an interception each. Linebackers; Nashon Douglas, Rajah Sandu, Jordan Breuker and Ben Pretty covered the field making tackles all day. Up front, Emerson Harvey, Diego Pineda, Nick Dubosoff and Seth Lundgren were a force and consistently disrupted the Knights passing game.

#10 Kole Nelles and #88 Justin crooks 3 solo tackles each.
#30 Colton Holt, #82 Will Dorey, #14 James Wetmore all had 1 solo tackle each

We started off well but couldn’t finish anything and dropped a disheartened game 40-0 to last years’ champions. We had some standouts on defence that worked really hard. The offence couldn’t find a way to crack through such an intimidating bunch. We’re definitely getting better though.

The most fun game I’ve ever lost.
Andrew Locke stripped the ball to create a turnover and was a tank as he rushed for 52 yards in 9 carries up the middle on Offence to make it exiting at the end of the game.
Jaylen Edwards scored 1 TD then recovered the kickoff . Andrew then proceeded again to blast up the middle and got so close to the end zone before the drive stalled as QB Brandt Davies was sacked for a loss. The front line, led by Grayson Hardie, really came together with their blocking assignments to allow the run. It was a lot of fun to watch how well the Giants were playing together, improving their game, even though they lost.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
