Chilliwack: Peewees battle for supremacy

The battle for football supremacy in Chilliwack at the peewee level was a close one. The Peewee Blue Giants defeated the Peewee Red Giants 32-22 last Saturday, on the strength of 3 TD’s from running back Gabe Mannes.

Mannes ran for 191 yards on 13 carries, while running back Wyatt Uzick had 9 carries for 70 yards and a TD. Emilio Pineda had another strong day running the ball with 7 carries for 67 yards. The Blue Giants o-line was strong with major contributions from Taj Sidhu and Tyler Desrochers. The Red Giants running attack, featuring Aiden Harvey and Hayden Orsachuk, was almost too much for the Blue Giants defense. The Red Giants defense was led by strong play from Defensive Tackles Jacob Butler and Nate Onema. On defense, the Blue Giants were led by Uzick with 5 tackles. With the Red Giants driving for a score that would have made the game 32-30 in the fourth quarter, the game was a true nailbiter. The teams enjoyed a pre-game tailgate party together and a post-game cake – celebrating their joint trip to Nebraska. The Blue Giants play the Langley Bears this Saturday at Townsend Park in Chilliwack, while the Red Giants travel to Abbotsford to take on the Falcons.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
