CIS: OUA announces 2012 playoff scenarios

HAMILTON– Ontario University Athletics (OUA) has determined the possible football playoff scenarios depending on game outcomes this Saturday, October 20th.
2012 OUA PLAYOFF SCENARIOS
Heading into the final week of the season, only the Waterloo Warriors have been eliminated from playoff contention.
The top three positions have been locked down by the McMaster Marauders (7-0), the Guelph Gryphons (6-1) and the Queen’s Gaels (5-2).
Second-place Guelph will host the first Yates Cup semifinal matchup on Saturday, November 3rd at 1 p.m. The top seeded Marauders will host the second OUA semifinal on November 3rd at 4:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on University Rush on theScore.
The Western Mustangs (4-3) travel to Ottawa this weekend to take on the late upstart Gee-Gees (2-5). With a win on Saturday, the Mustangs earn the right to host an OUA quarter-final on Saturday, October 27th as the fourth seed.
The Windsor Lancers are 3-4 heading into the final week of regular season play. Regardless of results this weekend, the Lancers have guaranteed themselves a place in the postseason as the fifth or sixth seed, and will be on the road for the OUA quarter-finals.
The Laurier Golden Hawks are in the midst of a rebuilding year, but with a 3-4 record they have the advantage of controlling their fate heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The young Golden Hawks face off against the McMaster Marauders on Saturday, and with a win against the No. 1 team in the nation, they’re in.
There is still mathematical hope for the Ottawa Gee-Gees, Toronto Varsity Blues and York Lions, though with 2-5 records, these three teams share the OUA basement. Each team needs a win this weekend, and help from around the league, if there’s any chance of continuing their seasons.
