CIS recruiting blackout starts thursday (CIS squeaky clean re: recruiting violations?)

The CIS football coaches will finally get to take a break when the CIS ‘recruiting blackout’ period begins on thursday. The blackout period runs from December 23rd until January 2nd.

During that time CIS football coaches and staff members are not allowed to contact any football prospects of any class. If a coach or staff member contacts you this is illegal according to CIS guidelines. The only other blackout period is during the CIS East-West All-Star Game in early May.

But do not worry there are no ‘CIS police’ watching your house. Come to think of it we are not even sure if any program has been sanctioned for recruiting violations in the CIS. The only violations we can think of are ineligible players or doping violations. Is recruiting violations the last frontier of CIS cheating? Or is the CIS squeaky clean when it comes to recruiting?

This is the exert from the CIS ‘athletes guide’:

Are there any recruiting black-out periods?
Β· recruiting black-out periods are restricted to football, and exist from December 23rd to January 2nd inclusively, as well as within five clear days of the start of the CIS East-West All-Star Game and until one clear day following the completion of the Game.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
