This match-up was a highly anticipated one with Windsor was looking to exact a little revenge for the loss that the club incurred in the 2011 OFC Championship game. In an eerie coincidence, the final score of this past weekend’s game (a 47-8 win for Hamilton) was similar to the final score of the provincial championship game a year ago (a 42-6 win for Hamilton).
Kyle Johnston had another stand out performance under Centre this past weekend. Johnston threw for 290 yards and five touchdowns on just nine completions with only one small blemish, one interception. His favourite receivers still remain Anthony Pizzuti (4 catches for 51 yards and 2 touchdowns) and Daniel Parr (2 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown). The Offence was able to score at will and Johnston connected with his talented group of receivers with three strikes of 62 yards or more to help move the Hurricanes down field.
This week saw a new Canes’ defender take the spotlight. Ryan Dalley registered one solo tackle, 4 interceptions for a total of 62 yards, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and a total of 20 defensive points. Dalley was the key to shutting down the AKO offensive attack by not allowing anything to get past him in the secondary.
The Hurricanes (4-1) are on the road in week six as they take on the St. Leonard Cougars (3-2) on Saturday night at 7pm.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
