The Saskatoon Hilltops are going back to the Canadian Bowl for the fifth time in six seasons after at 38-16 victory over the Calgary Colts in the PFC Final.

The Hilltops defence bent but didnā€™t break, allowing the third most passing yards in a PFC final, but shut the Colts out in the second half.Ā Ā  The ā€œDā€ knocked down six passes, tying them for third in a Conference championship history.Ā  Defensive back James Vause was terrific, picking off two pass and making four solo tackles.

Blake Herman tallied six tackles, while three Hilltops collected five tackles; Cole Benkic, Blake Adams and Tom Schnitzler.Ā Ā  Hermann also had the lone sack.

Offensively the Hilltops used the ground game to near perfection as Logan Fischer rushed for 170 yards on 23 carries and scored four touchdowns.Ā  Through the air quarterback Jared Andreychuk only completed seven passes and used defensive lineman Matt Kozun for a two yard TD strike.

The Hilltops will host their first Canadian Bowl since the 2010 season and will welcome the Okanagan Sun on Saturday November 7th at 1:00pm.

For the second straight season the Calgary Colts season ends one win short of the PFC title in Saskatoon.

Despite the loss, they set a new PFC record for pass completions as quarterback John Kiesman completed 27 and set a CJFL Conference Championship record with 47 attempts.Ā  Kiesman threw for 375 yards and a major to Jesse Kutz.Ā Ā  Kyle Brick caught a game high nine passes for 122 yards.

On the ground Dylan Minshull scored a touchdown on 17 carries and 72 yards.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
