OFFENSE: ASHER HASTINGS, REGINA THUNDER: Hastings was the driving force in the Thunder’s 24-21 upset over the previously undefeated Calgary Colts at McMahon Stadium on October 14. Hastings held a hot hand as he completed 29 of 36 passes for 327 yards, passing for 3 touchdowns in the win. The 3rd touchdown pass of the day to Will Heward came with only 17 seconds left vaulted the Thunder to the title tilt.
DEFENSE: MICHAEL WALDRON, SASKATOON HILLTOPS: The 4th-year defensive back was an integral part in his team’s 42-11 semi-final victory over Edmonton. He recorded 2 of Saskatoon’s 6 interceptions on the day as the defense forced the Wildcats to turn the ball over 11 times. He added 4 solo tackles, assisted on 2 other stops and forced a fumble. Waldron had 20 points in the game.
SPECIAL TEAMS: ZACH SCHMIDT, SASKATOON HILLTOPS:The 3rd-year kicker/punter made good on 2 of 3 field goals in the Hilltops 42-11 semi-final victory over the Edmonton Wildcats, connecting from 15 & 11 yards. Schmidt punted 12 times in the contest, averaging 38.5 yards per punt. His longest travelled 53 yards.
