CJFL (PFC) recap [4]: The Colts, Hilltops, Thunder come out on top

PFC Summary: Ryan Watters

This past weekend the PFC saw three lopsided games as the Colts, Hilltops and Thunder each claimed victory.

Calgary Colts 43
Edmonton Huskies 4

The Calgary Colts continue to roll after their defence forced eight turnovers including four interceptions and held the Huskies to 99 yards on the ground.

Offensively running back Xavier Ramsey was unstoppable scoring three touchdowns on game high 23 carries and 149 yards.  Quarterback Bailey Wasdel finished 14 of 21 for 189 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Jordan Gabriel-Cannon.

On the defence both Colton Burr and Austin Daisy compiled five tackles each and had one of the eight takeaways.  Chris Peet-Schwarz had the lone sack.

The Huskies lone points came from kicker Cole Sabourin who connected on a 35 field goal and booted a single.

The Colts (4-0) will have a bye next week as will the Huskies (1-3).

Regina Thunder 43
Winnipeg Rifles 29

Over 1500 fans packed Leibel Field in Regina for the first ever CJFL game and saw the Thunder offence rack up 576 yards of total offence, including 306 of it on the ground.  Victor St. Pierre-Laviolette rushed 29 times for 154 yards and two scores while Ethan Hautz averaged 14 yards a carry, collecting 129 yards and scored a touchdown.  Quarterback Sawyer Buettner threw a pair of touchdowns to Levi Paul and finished with 266 yards.

Paul Toth led the defence with five stops and Polis Koko had four.

The Rifles offence woke up after last week led by quarterback Jamie Ybarra who was 22 of 33 for 337 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes.  One was caught by All-Canadian Ian Lee along with Alex Tachinski.  Running back Blair Mattes rushed four times and scored two touchdowns.

Saturday night the Thunder (3-1) will visit the Saskatoon Hilltops (3-1) in the lone PFC game, while the Rifles (1-3) have the weekend off.

Saskatoon Hilltops 53
Edmonton Wildcats 16

The final game of the weekend was a lopsided one as the Hilltops gained 609 yards of total offence while holding the Wildcats to just 22 total yards on the ground.

Running back Joshua Ewanchyna carried a game high 18 times for 179 yards and scored three touchdowns and Adam Machart rushed 17 times for 118 yards and a score.  Quarterback Jared Andreychuk threw for 244 yards on 13 completions and three touchdowns, two of which to Jason Price who now has a Conference high four majors.

Defensively Logan Bitz had a team high seven solo tackles and James Vause intercepted a pass.

Wildcats quarterback Colton Hippe completed 11 passes for 128 yards and a rushed for their only touchdown.

The Hilltops (3-1) will host the Regina Thunder (3-1) on Saturday night in the lone PFC game while the Wildcats (0-4) have the weekend off.
