CJFL players of week: Marsch, Veenstra, Van Gylswyck


Ryan Marsch – Quarterback – Winnipeg Rifles

The 3rd-year quarterback has been one of the hottest passers in the PFC in 2011. Marsch
threw for a career-high 6 touchdown passes in Winnipeg’s 52-31 home win over the Regina
Thunder on Sunday. Derek Dean would reel in 3 scores, Matt Lariviere 2, and Alex Vitt had
the other touchdown catch.

The 6’1, 205-pound Sturgeon Heights Collegiate grad would
complete 20 of 34 passes for 425 yards. For the second straight week, Marsch would be
involved in a contest where both he & the opposing pivot, Regina’s Wyatt Catley would
both throw for 400+ yards. Marsch leads the PFC in passing yards with 1094 and in the
passing efficiency ratings with a rating of 132.4.


Richard Veenstra – Defensive back – Windsor AKO Fratmen

9 total tackles, 3 INT, 2 INT for TD, 34 Total Def. Points, in 40-26 win over Ottawa Sooners
Richard Veenstra, Rookie, 5’8”, 175 lbs, came off the bench to spark the AKO Fratmen
Defense with 3 interceptions and 9 total tackles. Richard returned two of the interceptions for
TD’s which ties an OFC record, and sets a new AKO record. Richard currently leads the
OFC with 9 tackles, interceptions with 3, defensive points with 34, defensive touchdowns
with 2, and is tied with 3 others for most points with 12. Richard will make his home debut
on Saturday when AKO hosts the London Beefeaters at 7:30 pm at Alumni Field in a battle
of unbeaten teams.

Quinn Van Gylswyck – Kicker – Westshore Rebels

For the second time this season Rebel kicker Quinn Van Gylswyck is the BCFC
Special Teams Player of the Week. He would add to the Rebels scoring on Saturday
afternoon with 15 points, hitting all three field goals (17, 36 and 40 yards out), was
perfect on five converts and had a single. His kicking would pin the Broncos deep all
afternoon with four punts totalling 228 yards, an average of 57 yards including a
booming 75 yarder. His five kick-offs would total 313 yards, an average of 63 yards
