Quarterback – #5 Steve Schuweiler – Kamloops Broncos

Only one word can describe the semi-final in Langley where the Rams barely hung on to beat the Kamloops Broncos 48-46 and that word is WOW.Β Β  Broncos quarterback Steve Schuweiler put together a BCFC record setting afternoon by throwing for 543 yards, shattering the old mark of 404 set in 2011.Β  He finished 28 of 45 and threw four touchdowns in the loss.Β  He is the β€œBC Lions Offensive Player of the Week.”

CJFL Defensive POW

PFC SEMI-FINAL:

Linebackers – #22 Jakub Jakoubek and #40 Colten Burr – Calgary Colts

One of the main reasons the Calgary Colts were able to upset the defending champs in their own backyard last weekend was due to their defense.Β  Jakoubek made 10 tackles and had an assist, Burr meanwhile had six tackles, three assists, a knockdown and an interception. They are named the co-Defensive Players of the Week.

BCFC SEMI-FINAL:

Defensive Lineman – #55 Zac Ironstand – Okanagan Sun

For the second time this season Okanagan Sun defensive lineman Zac Ironstand is the β€œBC Lions Defensive Player of the Week.”  The graduating veteran was in the VI Raiders backfield often causing havoc as the Sun snapped their playoff losing streak on Sunday.Β  He finished the Sun semi-final win with three sacks and two solo tackles.

CJFL Special Teams POW

PFC SEMI-FINAL:

Linebacker – #48 Bobby Elman – Saskatoon Hilltops

The Special Teams Player of the Week in the PFC during the semi-final is linebacker Bobby Elman.Β  He helped the Hilltops contain the Rifles return game making a pair of special teams tackles, had an assist and a fumble recovery.

BCFC SEMI-FINAL:

Kicker – #30 Steve Thomas – Langley Rams

In the playoffs one of the most important positions on the field can be a team’s kicker.Β  The Langley Rams can proudly say they have the Conference’s top kicker and the β€œBC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week,” Steve Thomas.Β  He connected out two field goals and was a perfect 6-6 in converts as the Rams punched their ticket to the Cullen Cup.Β  He also punted five times for a net of 199 yards and tallied seven kick-offs for a net of 278 yards.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
