CJFL shines in CFL Draft

The CJFL saw six former players taken the 2015 CFL Draft on Tuesday, including the #1 overall pick.

Offensive lineman and former Ottawa Sooner Alex Mateas was selected #1 overall by his hometown REDBLACKS following a great season with UCONN.

Former Langley Rams linebacker Adam Konar was selected 25th overall by the Edmonton Eskimos.  He graduated from the Rams following the 2012 Canadian Bowl to play at the University of Calgary.

Following Konar, former Edmonton Wildcat DL Rory Connop was chosen 26th overall by the Saskatchewan Rough Riders after a standout season at Western.

Another former Wildcat was selected on Tuesday as well; receiver Andrew Johnson was taken by the Edmonton Eskimos, 34th overall.  He spent last season south of border at Fort Lewis College.

Former Okanagan Sun defensive back Dexter Janke was taken 44th overall by the Calgary Stampeders.  He is coming off his lone season in junior football following his career at the University of Saskatchewan.

Former Langley Rams receiver Daniel English was selected 52nd overall by the Hamilton Tiger Cats.  English is coming off his second Canadian Bowl appearance in three seasons with the Rams.

All six players will now attend rookie camp with the respective teams.
