CJFL Special Teams Players of the Week: Heidebrecht, Peverelle & Crumb

The Canadian Junior Football Conference (CJFL) is pleased to announce the Special Teams Players of the Week.

PFC – Week 3

Kicker #26 Jonathan Heidebrecht – Edmonton Huskies
A strong kicking game would help the Edmonton Huskies over the weekend record their third win of the season.  Kicker Jonathan Heidebrecht played an important role during their win over the Calgary Colts.  He would actually recover his own punt on the Colts 12 yard line in a critical part of the game setting up the Huskies second touchdown.  He would connect on a 37 yard field goal, hit all four converts and recorded a single.  In the end Heidebrecht would punt 10 times, netting 312 yards, including a booming 50 yarder.  He would also tally five kickoffs for 127 net yards.  He is the PFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

BCFC – Week 6

Kicker #87 Michael Peverelle – Westshore Rebels
Adding to the Westshore Rebels scoring on Saturday was the boot of kicker Michael Peverelle.  He would connect on both field goal attempts and was a perfect four for four in converts. Peverelle would also collect seven kickoffs totalling 260 net yards.  His efforts name him the “BC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week.”

OFC – Week 3

Defensive Back #3 Austin Crumb – Windsor AKO Fratmen
Leading his Windsor AKO Fratmen team to a 30-20 victory over the previously unbeaten St. Leonard Cougars, DB #3 Austin Crumb had an outstanding day as he had four carries on punt return for a total of 171 yards (85 long) and one touchdown, and one carry for 86 yards on kick-off return, resulting in yet another touchdown. In total, Austin ran for 257 yards off of five carries, earning him the honours of Week 3 OFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Austin is only 19-years old and is currently a first year player with the AKO Fratmen. According to the Fratmen organization, Austin came over after playing for the University of Windsor last year, and he had an immediate impact on the team. He’s a great player with a team-first attitude.
