CJFL WEEKEND WARRIOR: Tyler Hoath

Fifth year offensive lineman for the Saskatoon Hilltops

The two-time defending champion Saskatoon Hilltops have been known as a team that can pound the ball on the ground year in and year out. Seemingly they have a running back that is at the top or near the top of the PFC rushing leaderboard year after year.   It’s no fluke players like Andre Lalonde, Wayndel Lewis and Logan Fischer have all enjoyed success of the ground.  The reason is simple…a massive and talented offensive line.

It should be no different in 2016 but with the graduation of some key pieces the line will be anchoured by Tyler Hoath and company.

The Saskatoon native will enter his fifth and final year with the champs looking for his third straight national title.  He first made the Hilltops team back in 2012, but decided to quit the team for personal reasons before their Canadian Bowl championship in Langley.  The next season however Hoath was back to stay because of his love of the sport and his teammates.

Since returning he has been a force on the line at 6’3, 280 pounds and a bench lift of 375 last year.

Thanks to his and the team’s success Hoath is on the radar of a number of CIS programs including the University of Regina, and Vanier Cup champion UBC Thunderbirds and Acadia University.   Each one of them however will have to wait at least another year as the Bethlehem grad finishes his junior career this season.

When he’s not on the football field or in the film room Hoath continues to drive his body by working 12-13 hour days for a construction company in Saskatoon.  On the weekends fans can find him on the golf course demolishing long drives.

Following this season Hoath will graduate from the Hilltops program and does hope to continue to play at the next level and could give the CIS a try.  If playing is not an option he would like to finish his schooling, get a job he enjoys and do a little travelling.

Tyler Hoath is a CJFL Weekend Warrior.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
