Cam was born into a football family. His father played for Dave Johnson at Abby Collegiate and his cousin Spencer McLennon played for the BC Lions and won a Grey Cup in 1994. He grew up loving football but did not know there was high school football in Abbotsford until he say a game on TV in 2005 between Mouat and Vancouver College (Mouat won 7 to 6). It was at that point he wanted to become a part of the ‘legacy that is Mouat.’

Cam played on Team BC in 2010, where he was captain and started at QB. He made the all-conference all star team in 2009 and 2010. He won 2 championships in 2008, one with the JR Mouat Hawks as well as the Bantam Falcons.

“My most memorable football experience definitely has to be the 2009 championship game against Centennial were we came back to make it a 3 point game in the 4th quarter after scoring twice in 18 seconds. Looking into the eyes of my teammates and seeing the fire in their eyes as they rally with me. The fact that every player on that team was looking to me for leadership and that I had the whole team on my shoulders was an amazing feeling the emotions that came with that game were indescribable and as the final whistle went the crushing disappointment was devastating but it definitely helped me build as a person. ”

“My most influential person in my life is definitely Coach Kelly. His inspirational speeches are beyond any I have ever heard. His diverse offenses are outstanding and I aspire to be like him someday. He has better stamina than most 20 year olds do. His work ethic is remarkable. He spends every minute of everyday planning for football the time he puts in to each game plan is ridiculous. Overall the most inspirational thing about him is his love of the game, he lives, breathes, and sleeps football which is exactly how I love about the game.”

He wears #7 because he loved how John Elway played. He plans to become a firefighter after university so he can “do something physical that allows me to help people.”

Cam was featured as one of the top QBs by CFC late in 2010.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
