Class 2011: Drew Burko, QB, Aden Bowman / Team Sask (Video) Huskie commit

Class 2011 quarterback (who made the CFC ‘top QB’ list) Drew Burko has been playing football since he was 11 years old. Drew had a great year in 2010, solidifying himself as one of the top quarterback prospects in Canada.

In Drew’s first season of football he played slotback but was moved to quarterback the following season, where he has stayed ever since. In grade 9 he played for the ‘junior’ Aden Bowman squad and after that season concluded he joined the senior team and served as a back up. The team ended up winning the provincial title. In grade 10 he was the starting QB and that team won the city championship and Drew was named offensive rookie of the year for Bowman.

In 2009 he represented his province in his hometown at the U17 Football Canada Cup. The team finished in fourth place. That same year he led his high school, Aden Bowman, to an undefeated season and provincial championship.

In 2010 Drew again played for Team Saskatchewan (at the new U18 Football Canada Cup format) and led the team to a national championship. He was named the tournament all star quarterback. That same year, he led Bowman to the city finals where they lost a closely contested match.

His most memorable football experience was “winning the provincial championship in grade 11 and winning the Canada cup in the summer.”

His most influential person in football is his father who played for the Saskatchewan Huskies and Toronto Argos and now coaches with the Huskies.

Not just a football player, Drew was drafted by the Spokane Chiefs 185th overall in the 2008 WHL bantam draft. He played AAA hockey for the Saskatoon Contacts in grade 10.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
