Brayden began playing with the Calgary Atom Stampeders in 2005 and every year since he has been playing on the defensive line. He has won 3 ‘top lineman’ awards, 2 defensive MVP awards, and 1 team MVP. In 2010 he was a Calgary Midget Football Association (CMFA) all-star and was a Calgary high school all-star. Also in 2010 he scored his first touchdown on a fumble recovery with the Bobcats. He has played throughout his career with the Stampeder organization and his high school career with the 2010 Calgary city finalists Bishop O’Byrne.

Throughout Brayden’s career he has come to love the sport of football. The fondest and most unforgettable football experience was “being a part of the 2008 CBFA (Calgary Bantam Football Association) Selects Team – and is a memory I will cherish forever! At the conclusion of the 2008 Bantam season, nominated athletes attended tryouts for the CBFA’s All-Star travelling team. I worked very hard and gave it my all, which ended up getting me a spot on the locally idolized team. This team was selected every year to go to Belleville, Illinois to compete in the β€˜Pilgrim Bowl’ over the US Thanksgiving holiday. Not only did we win all 3 of our games against tough, experienced American opponents, we were able to take part in the extreme American Football culture. I made many good friends through this team, both teammates and foes alike! Without a doubt, I would trade in all my football experiences up to this day to be able just to go on the trip with the same group of players/coaches one more time.”

Many people have been a positive influence to Brayden along the way. “As an Athlete, I train with KING Football based out of Calgary, AB. They have provided me with the precise ‘toolset’ to not only increase my strength, technique and speed, but to also pave the future for a Football career. In addition, the Head Coach of my high school team – Derek MacCready (an 11 year veteran of the CFL) has taught me many skills to help me master and excel in my position.
As a Student, I feel that I am the greatest influence on myself. I am very self-motivated and I constantly set goals to allow me to have the maximum potential for any post-secondary opportunity that I may want to take part in.
Finally, as an Individual, my parents play the most influential role on my life. Not only are they there for advice and guidance, but they push me to be the best I can be in anything I do. They were the ones who encouraged me to play Football in the first place, and had they not done that I couldn’t imagine who I would be today.”

Brayden is a 90% student who hopes to take engineering in university. His nickname is ‘tweeter’ due to people having trouble pronouncing his name. He is also the cousin of London’s Brett Weir who signed with the Arkansas Razorback’s this off season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
