In a very short span of time, Brett has climbed the football ranks. Only beginning in grade 10 with Corpus Christi Longhorns, Brett blazed his way to a successful high school career. He also won athlete of the year in his rookie season.

Furthermore, the standout played for the junior varsity Burlington Stampeders and the varsity Burlington Stampeders of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

Brett says that the entire experience of playing for the Longhorns has been the highlight of his young football career.

“Playing for a brand new high school team and taking it from a Division 3 team to a Division 1 nationally ranked high school team in four years’ time is one of my most prized accomplishments,” explains Brett who’s also been selected to the Golden Horseshoe all-star team for two straight seasons.

There are some special people who have supported and encouraged Brett in reaching all his football goals. In this group are his family, especially his mother and father as well as the many coaches who’ve instructed him throughout his entire career including Nathan Galoni and Dino Borchetta.

“They all push me and keep me going, and without them I don’t think I’d have the success I’ve had in football to date,” says the graduating slotback. “I’ll miss them a lot but I’ll take everything I’ve learned from them and take it to the next level.”

Away from the field, Brett was a provincial soccer player. Moreover, he has played a high level of rep hockey. However, football is his main passion. Among his future goals is to achieve both football and educational excellence.

“I would like to have an extremely successful university football career and hope to get drafted into the CFL,” comments Brett. “But at the same time, gaining my education in history and becoming a teacher if football doesn’t work out.”

Overall, the Longhorns star equates success as a team effort, no matter if it is achieving a football accomplishment or aspects of life away from the field.

“If the center doesn’t get the ball to the quarterback, he can’t get it to the running backs to make the play,” explains Brett. “If the line doesn’t block, the quarterback will get sacked and it’s the same with life; you can’t reach success doing it alone.”

“You need the support and expertise of others if your journey through life is going to be successful. You just can’t ever quit on anything.”
