Over the years, Chris has worked his way to becoming a dominant enforcer on the field. Among the teams he’s played for during his football career are the Stoney Creek Bombers of the Hamilton Minor Football Association (HMFA), the Steel City Steelers of the Ontario Minor Football League (OMFL), the Steel City Ironmen of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL), the Burlington Braves of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and his high school team, the Sherwood Secondary Saints.

While playing for the Bombers, the defensive standout experienced some memorable moments of his football career.

“My most memorable moment in football was when I was playing house league I won rookie of the year and when in desperation the coach put me in as fullback for high school and scored a touchdown from the one-yard line,” explains Chris.

The defensive standout is part of the Golden Horseshoe team that will play in the May 6th all-star game at McMaster University.

Recently, Chris made his decision of where he will play university football. Next season, he will leave Ontario and head out west as he has committed to the University of British Columbia (UBC).

“I thought the coaches there we’re just amazing and the reputation of the Thunderbirds,” says the future Thunderbirds player. “Coach Olson, Coach Erdman and Coach Benefield have lots of experience playing professional football and could help me get to the next level after university.”

Getting to this point in his career would not have been possible for Chris without the support and guidance of coaches who’ve instructed him.

“Coach Neil Lumsden and Coach Mike Samples coached me with the Burlington Braves and really helped me get to the CIS, not to mention my high school coaches who pushed me to pursue a career in football,” adds the Saints defensive star.

Once he arrives at UBC, Chris will study sociology. Future career goals he has set for himself is to crack the CFL and play for the Hamilton Tiger Cats. If that doesn’t work out, then he will enter the policing field.

From the gridiron, Chris has learned some key things that will help him achieve more feats at UBC and beyond.

“Football has really taught me to be a team player in all aspects of life and most importantly to try and work hard and to achieve your goals,” comments Chris.
