After 3 successful seasons and 2 championships with the Sherbrooke Volontaires, Maxime Drouin wants to play in the CIS.

Maxime Drouin began playing football at a young age. He played his minor football for les Dragons de Massey-Vanier for 4 years in total, 2 in the cadet level and 2 in Juvenile. In his 3rd year with the team, Maxime was named the special teams player of the year as he returned kicks and was also named the top defensive player in his senior year with les Dragons. He also played in the Wilson Challenge as he suited up for the Richelieu squad. Maxime had a very strong tournament as he was named player of the game for 2 of the 3 games that his team played.

When it came time to pick what CEGEP he would attend, Maxime chose to head to Sherbrooke where he would continue his education and also play football for the Volontaires of the division 2 league. The Volontaires have been known as a powerhouse in division 2 winning the league championship in 4 of the last 5 years. The championship in 2010 was the one Maxime will always remember.

“That one was very special because i was a starter, I was only a rookie when we won the Bol d’Or in 2009” said Drouin.

Maxime stands at 5’9, 165 pounds. What would make Maxime good for a CIS program is his knowledge of the game. Maxime has experience at many different positions and is good all around player. Drouin began his career as a Quarterback, then was converted to a Tailback and Linebacker till his 3rd year of high school. In his 4th year , he played at Defensive back before playing Linebacker in his final year of high school. When Maxime began his CEGEP career he was placed at DB where he played his entire CEGEP career and started 2 years for the Volontaires.

Maxime is yet to get recruited by any University program but says that it will not stop him. He plans to attend the university of Laval and will attend camp. Maxime is a team player and would like a chance at the next level.

Maxime will be enrolling in September of 2012 and will be studying Biomedical Sciences.

He added that the most influential people in his life are his Mother, that always supported him and let him play the sport he loves and his 2 former coaches Luc Robert and-Jean-Benoit Jubinville that thought him everything he knows about the sport.

“Those 2 coaches made me believe in myself and gave me the desire to get as far as possible, they showed me how to be a better person in this society”.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
