Standing at 6 feet, Anthony Powless is a big threat on the outside. Having played for the Brantford Bison’s for 6 years, Powless has grown into a special player, gaining him plenty of attention in his graduating year. Powless also dawns his school colors, as he suits up for Assumption College School in Brantford.

While playing for his respective teams, Powless has gone on to make quit the name for himself, winning plenty of awards and breaking a few records in the process. “Throughout my football career I have been OVFL mvp in 2010 and 2011,” the high school student says. “Also broke the record in the OVFL for most receiving yards in a season. I was an OVFL all star in 2010 and 2011.” Powless doesnt just impress in the OVFL. He has also stepped up for his school. “For my school I was offensive mvp in 2010 and 2011 and rookie of the year in 2010.”

With so many acclamations to his name, one might think it would be hard for Powless to have a special moment in his mind. Ask him however, and he won’t hesitate to mention one game in particular. “I would have to say my most memorable one, is when my school won the CWOSSA Championships and move on to the western bowl at the Rogers Centre.” As humble as they come, Powless does not take his great moments for granted. “It was a great experience for me and a once in a lifetime chance and I am grateful I got to experience that. The whole thing was cool being on TV, playing in a dome on a professional field and all the people it was all really great.”

A more impressive feat however may be what Powless did, to etch his name into the record books. “On of my other great memories is when I broke the OVFL record for most receiving yards in a season in 2010. It was more special because of the way it happened. It was the last game of the season and with only five minutes left in the game, so that made it even more memorable and special for me. And also my whole family and a lot of my friends were in attendance so that was special to me.”

A young man with a positive attitude is a reflection of the people who have gotten him to where he is today, and Anthony is more then appreciative to have those people in his life. “I have came a long way since moving to Canada. My aunt and uncle have done as much as they could do for me and I’m thankful for that. I believe that football also pushes me to do good in school and want to have a career after football to make my parents proud and be a good role model for my siblings.”

Along with his family, Powless also has his coaching staff to thank, for everything they have done for him. Powless coach, Raj Saini, has seen Anthony grow, and is more then aware of the type of player he is. “Anthony is a versatile receiver that possess exceptional hands and speed. He is athletic young man that is very coachable and is definitely a student of the game of football.”

Powless has recently added a strength and conditioning program to elevate his game, showing that he is still getting better, faster, and stronger.

As for whats next for Powless, the future is in his hands. However education is number one. “My dream for me is to be the first person in my family to graduate highschool and move on to university, that for me is a big accomplishment in its self.” As for what school Powless will play university ball, that is still unknown, but whatever jersey he dawns, he is sure to put on a show.

“I have done as much as I can for myself and now its time to try and make my dream a reality.”
