In all his football endeavours, Jordan has achieved a lot of success. During his time with the Hamilton Wentworth Panthers of the Ontario Football Conference(OFC), the team went on a tear. They were undefeated during the regular season en route to a championship title.
Furthermore, the star running back played with the Niagara Spears of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and the Niagara Storm of the South Central Ontario Football League (SCOFL). Both the Spears and Storm reached the semi-finals of the playoffs and Jordan was a key component.
This past July, Jordan experienced the highlight of his football career when he represented Team Ontario West at the Canada Football Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta.
“It was an honor to spend the two weeks completely encased in football and to have so many other players and coaches completely dedicated to it as well as played with them,” adds the running back, who was named offensive MVP of the game versus British Colombia at the tourney.
Recognized for his stellar play on the field, Jordan has received numerous honours including peewee championship MVP, team rookie of the year and team offensive MVP for the Governor Simcoe Redcoats. Most recently, the graduating standout was named for the second straight year to the Golden Horseshoe all-star team and will play in the game on May 6th at McMaster University.
Jordan has been fortunate to have great coaches who have inspired and motivated him into becoming the impact player he is today on the field.
“The defensive coordinator at Governor Simcoe, Jamie Brophy pushed me a lot and introduced an excellent weight room in our school and constantly helps me in training and lifting 5 days a week,” says Jordan. “Another influence on my life has been coach Kevin Philips; I worked with him for the past two summers at Ron Dias`s All Pro Camp and I’ve really become a by-product of his teaching and helped to start refining skills needed for the next level.”
A big reason the offensive star has been able to pursue his football aspirations is due to the support and encouragement of his family during good and bad times.
“I would have to place my entire family as a huge influence on who I`ve become and what my character has grown to be, they keep me motivated and have a taught me a lot about life and myself,” comments the graduating running back. “My family has been through and still going through a lot and itβs definitely kept me motivated me, kept me hard at work and to be something better than expected and to keep that chip on my shoulder.”
Once he does graduating from high school, Jordan would like to continue pursuing his passion for football, whether it is going the professional route or playing for free. However, he does plan to study history with a concentration in humanities in university.
Getting a solid education from the game of football has helped the Redcoats running back apply those skills in all life endeavours.
“Sometimes a field goal isn`t enough and sometimes a decent mark in school isn’t either,” explains Jordan. ” Football has definitely taught me amazing amount of skills, from hard work, leadership to valuing things it`s always had an effect on me.”
“Most importantly it’s introduced me to a bond that cannot be recreated by anything else with fellow teammates, and it shows on and off the field when that dedication to one another is there.”
