Lanaudière Running back Xavier Bernet will enroll at the University of Montreal in January.
Xavier began his football career when he was 12 years old, he played for “les Dragons du CollΓ¨ge St-Jean-Vianney”. Xavier spent 5 years with the program playing Running Back. He won Offensive player of the year 2 times with the Dragons. In his final year with the team, Xavier earned the right to play in the league’s all star game. After high school, Xavier made the decision to attend CEGEP at LanaudiΓ¨re where he played 3 seasons for the Triades. During his time with the program, he won the student athlete of the year award twice and also brought home Triades of the year which is given to the player that shows the most dedication towards the program and performs the best.
Bernet really enjoyed his last season with the Triades organization and appreciates everything he has learned from the coaching staff. Bernet will also never forget how much his coaches believed in him and let him be the leader of the Triades offence.
” The coaches trusted me and let me be the leader this year, it is something that I will never forget, i grew alot as a player and they are a big reason that I will play in the CIS”.
Xavier also mentionned that his high school coach with the Dragons thought him alot.
“My coach in high school Giulio Siciliano, showed me alot of technique that i still use today, he thought me how to play Running Back the right way”.
The 5’8, 185 pound Running Back was recruited by various CIS programs including the Montreal Carabins,York Lions, McGill Redmen and ST-FX X men. Xavier made the choice to attend the University of Montreal in january of 2012 and continue his career with the Carabins.
” I found Montreal was the best fit for me, i liked the other schools but i want to be a part of the Carabins organization ” said Bernet.
Xavier will be enrolling in Arts and science in January and plans to change programs and study physiotherapy come September.
