Kristopher began his football career playing in Regina Minor Football (RMF) for two seasons. For three years, the linebacker played high school football for the Luther College Lions of the Regina Intercollegiate Football League (RIFL). In his senior high campaign, he transferred schools and consequently suited up for the RIFL’s Balfour Redmen.
With the Redmen, Kristopher was part of an exciting, yet special moment on the field.
“My most memorable football experience would have to be beating our opponent in the quarter-final game this past season,” explains the Redmen linebacker of the experience. “It was a close game that went back and forth and it came down to one last defensive possession to win it.”
“One of the other seniors batted down a Hail Mary to win it and I just remember that feeling of relief and triumph.”
Next season, Kristopher will don the green and white as he’s recently committed to the University of Saskatchewan.
“I`ve wanted to be a Huskie for as long as I can remember and meeting the coaches and viewing the facility just solidified my decision,” adds the future Huskies player of his decision to commit to the school. “It has a great atmosphere and everyone there has your back, in athletics and academics.”
Academically, the defensive standout plans on taking general courses through the College of Arts and Sciences at the campus. After he completes his first year, Kristopher is considering a possible transfer to the engineering program. However, he hopes to be successful on and off the field.
“I`m just looking to work hard and be the best football player I can be and the best student I can be as well,” says Kristopher. “I`m hoping to help the Huskies to a Vanier Cup.”
The main influence in the linebacker’s football career has been his former football coach, Brian Saip, who passed away on March 6, 2011.
“He taught each player he ever coached so much about football but also about life and perseverance,” comments the Redmen’s defensive standout. “He was so inspirational and inspires me to this day.”
“Every game I play is for him.”
Off the field, Kristopher’s parents have supported and motivated him in excelling in all aspects of life.
“They have taught me a great deal about life and are still teaching me,” adds the Redmen’s linebacker.
As he gets set to begin the next phase of his life at University of Saskatchewan, Kristopher will take with him all the tools he’s learned from the gridiron with the hopes of achieving more achievements on and off the field.
“I`ve learned that through hard work and perseverance any goal is achievable,” says Kristopher. “If you care enough to work hard, then anything is a possibility.”
