However, the standout’s greatest football moments came during his high school career with the Orchard Park Patriots in Stoney Creek, Ontario. A historical milestone for the Patriots was Matt’s most significant highlight of his football career.

β€œMy most memorable football moment was defeating Waterdown Warriors in the HWDSB (Hamilton Wentworth District School Board) Division 1 championship in my final year at Orchard Park Secondary School,” comments Matt. “This was also the school’s first Tier 1 championship ever.”

Additionally, the Patriots defensive end has played in many all-star games. In 2010, he represented the East in the Steel City Bowl. It is a Hamilton high school all-star game that was played against all-stars from the West. Last season (2011), Matt was selected to represent the Adams Conference in the OVFL all-star game against the Wetteges Conference.

The star player is also a two time Golden Horseshoe (GHR) all-star. In 2011, he participated in the GHR versus Greater Toronto Area (GTA) game and will again be representing GHR in the 2012 game on May 6th. Overall, Matt is 3-0 in all-star games he has played in his career.

Encouragement and support from his parents and coaches have motivated the defensive end in being able to realize all his football dreams.

“They are all great people and fantastic supporters,” adds Matt.

Future plans for the football standout include getting a degree and achieving the dream of winning a Vanier Cup with a Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS)team. Matt is competitive yet passionate about the game.

Perfection is something the Orchard Park star player strives to achieve in reaching all football and life goals.

“Football has taught me there is not a lot of room for error,” explains Matt. “In football, one mistake can cost your team the game and in life one mistake can cost you money, a job, and getting a scholarship.”
