Nathan got an early start in football, first playing at age seven. Since that time he has continued to develop his game with the John Barsby Bulldogs, in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Next fall, however, Berg will don the jersey of another team. Though which team that is, is not something the promising young running back has wholly decided on.

β€œI am graduating this June and will be attending college next fall.” says Berg. β€œI am considering attending UBC or McGill, or possibly playing a few years with the VI Raiders.”

Wherever he ends up, Berg will look to build on the momentum he has gather as a secondary school star. In 2010, he was named the BC AA Grade 11 Player of the Year award. As a senior, Berg put on an impressive encore, winning the BC AA League MVP award, and playing for Team BC at the 2011 Canada Cup, where he helped the west coast province nab bronze.

Though the prospect has amassed a collection of individual honours, Berg notes that his β€œmost memorable moment is definitely winning the BC AA Championship” in 2010, where he received the Outstanding ’Back of the Game award.

Though it is his proficiency as a running back and return specialist that will most likely carry Berg to success at the next level, the two way player exemplifies his well rounded game by acknowledging how he has been influenced as a player from various directions.

β€œThe people who have influenced my football career the most would have to be my teammates and coaches. But most of all, my coach Larry Cooper, who has been my Defensive Coach ever since I started playing football.”

Berg has found success as a linebacker, as well as a running back and return man, in large part because of his speed and agility. His ability to move sideline to sideline and make sudden changes in direction are valuable commodities on offensive, defence, and special teams, and will no doubt have Berg’s next set of coaches drooling.
