As one of the heavily sought after recruits in this year’s class, Kadeem is an elite talent in Nova Scotia football ranks. Among the teams he’s suited up for include the Halifax Seahawks of the Nova Scotia Varsity Football League (NSVFL), and both the Halifax Chargers and Halifax Argos of the Nova Scotia Minor Football Association.

His greatest achievements were during his high school football career with the Citadel Phoenix of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL). The Phoenix offensive tackle has played a significant role on offensive which in turn contributed to the team’s success in winning three consecutive NSSAFFL Tier 1 provincial titles from 2009-2011.

Recognizing his talents in his rookie campaign (2009), the Phoenix awarded him team rookie of the year. The NSSAFFL selected Kadeem to the league’s first all-star team in 2010.

Kadeem has also been a fixture on provincial football teams. He has represented Nova Scotia as a member of the under-15, under-17 and under-18 provincial teams. During his time with Team Nova Scotia, the standout experienced a special moment in his football career.

“Winning game one of the 2010 Canada Cup against top ranked Alberta in the late fourth quarter,” says the Phoenix graduating player of the moment experienced in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

After being courted by several schools, Kadeem has made the decision of where the next chapter of his football career will unfold. This upcoming season, the offensive tackle will make the move to London, Ontario to play football at Western University.

“Western is an elite team with great young talent,” explains the future Mustangs player of his decision. “I’m proud to be a part of it and grow as a team.”

“Their coaching staff was a big factor in my decision as Coach (Chris) Bertoia is one of the best offensive line coaches in the country.”

There are many individuals who have played a role in making Kadeem the player and person he is today.

“In football, the most influential people are my two coaches Mike Tanner and Jeff Lawley as well as my big cousin Paul and my positional coaches Rhys(Kavanaugh), Graham (Mackenzie), and Greg (Knight),” comments the Nova Scotia talent.

In life though, his parents have been his source of inspiration and encouragement.

“My parents are the most influential people in my life,” says Kadeem. “They have always stood behind me and pushed me forward to succeed.”

While he attends Western, Kadeem plans on studying social sciences. As for a future career, the Phoenix graduating player would like to become a parole officer.

As he gets ready to start the next phase of his football career and life at Western, Kadeem will use the key things he’s learned from the game with the hope for continued success in reaching all his dreams and goals.

“Football has taught me team work and discipline on the field, in public and in the classroom,” adds Kadeem.

Kadeem’s effect as a player and leader has resonated with Phoenix co-head coach and defensive coordinator Jeff Lawley.

“It’s guys like Kadeem that keep me wanting to coach,” explains Lawley, who’s just completed with 22nd season as a coach with the Phoenix. ” While he has been given the gift of great size and athleticism, he gives 100 percent effort at all times in order to better himself.”

The offensive tackle’s hard work ethic and talent is unmatched which spells trouble for opposing teams.

“There is an old saying, “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”,” comments the Phoenix co-head coach. “Unfortunately for opposing players Kadeem has the talent and he works hard and therefore defenders don’t stand a chance.”

Overall, Western has become the beneficiary of a player and person who’s the complete package.

“Kadeem is an inspirational leader, team captain and terrific person,” says Lawley. “I know Western realizes what a great talent they have landed and what they will soon realize is what an excellent role model they now have in Kadeem Adams.”
