Class 2012 : offensive lineman Alexandre Martineau will continue career with Redmen

After 3 season’s with the Beauce-Appalaches Condors (Cegep Division 2) , Alexandre Martineau has made the decision to pursue his football career with the McGill Redmen.

Alexandre Martineau began his career playing for the Pointe-Levis Corsaires (Juvenile AA) in his hometown. Alexandre knew he wanted to keep playing football after high school. He made the decision to attend CEGEP Beauce-Appalaches where he remained for the last 3 seasons. Alexandre knew that playing for the Condors would mean living away from home.

“After meeting with head coach Chris Audet , i knew it was the right place for me , he is an honest person, a great coach, he has been a very important part of my football career ” said Martineau.

The Condors appeared in the provincial Finals this season and for Alexandre, it was his most memorable one. His best football moment also occured this year, when the Condors upset heavy favorite Sherbrooke Volontaires in the semi-finals on the last play of the game.

Alexandre played center at CEGEP and would like to keep playing that position, the 5″11, 260 pound offensive lineman is known for his knowledge of the game and his Quickness. He will enroll at McGill in the fall of next year in Physical Education or Political Science. Alexandre also said that without the support of his Mother, football would never had been possible.

“My mother has been the biggest influence in my football career , she is the reason i have been able to play ,without her financial support , none of this would have been possible , I appreciate all she has done for me”.

Alexandre is looking to make his presence known and help the Redmen this upcoming season, as they look to rebound from a 0-9 season.
