Class of 2012 standout, Alex Hill, is set to debut at the collegiate level this fall. The Ontarian quarterback will graduate from Cardinal Newman Catholic Secondary School this spring, and plans to join the CIS later in the year.
Hill projects as a prototypical dual threat QB at the next level, displaying tremendous speed, exceptional agility, and a strong, accurate arm.
βI like to compare my style to Mike Vick,β explains Hill. βHe is the type of quarterback who developed into a pocket passer, but he is a threat to defensive coordinators at all time because of his ability to move outside the pocket and extend the play.β
Like Vick, Hill can rack up yardage with his arm or legs. The signal caller possesses a quickness that permits him to move down field if the rush comes off the corner, and can swing outside the tackle if a push comes up the gut.

Though his breakaway speed is undoubtedly one of his strongest assets, Hill uses his feet for more than moving the ball on the ground. The prospect displays an advanced awareness in the pocket, knowing when to break to the sidelines and allow his targets to create space. Hill is able to get the ball to his deep receivers, whether in the pocket, or on the roll out.
Check out the video provided below to see Hill exemplify these proficiencies.
Though his athleticism is considerable, Hill is more than a natural football player, having amassed a bevy of game experience with a handful of squads in the southern Ontario region. He has led teams to the 2011 OFVL SV Finals, a 2010 OMFL JV Championship, and four consecutive HWCDSB Championships.
βMy most memorable football moment would be winning a high school championship in my last year for Cardinal Newman,β recalls Hill. It was βalso my fourth high school championship in my career.β
Hill also led his flag team to a World Championship, under his head coach and brother, Matt.
In addition to obtaining a host of team accolades, Hill has done quite well for himself on an individual level. βFor the Invictas, Steelers, Cardinal Newman, and Ironmen, I won the offensive MVP award, along with the Leadership award for Cardinal Newman,β he explains.
Though team and individual honours have flowed freely for Hill, he humbly accepts them by giving credit where it is due. He identifies his family as the most influential people in his life, citing them as pillars of his success.
βMy brother Matt has coached me for years and constantly pushes me to get better,β says Hill. βMy mom and dad have never missed a game and are so involved in my football [career].β
While Hill hopes that championships keep rolling in, he will be fighting for victory with a new squad, in a new league, this coming fall. Though exactly which squad that is, is still to be determined.
βMcMaster, Waterloo, and Western are all considerations, however, I am open to all schools at this time,β he confirms.
While at university, Hill plans to study social sciences, and recreation and leisure.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
