Additionally, the standout was a Quebec Junior Football League (QJFL) all-star linebacker in 2011 and league player of the week (week 7). At the age of 17, Shayne was nominated for QJFL defensive player and rookie of the year.

Being able to do something he loves such as football wouldn’t have been possible without all the help his trainer has given him throughout the years.

“Carl Tolmie motivates me to keep working hard and succeeds on getting to the next level,” explains Shayne. “Teaching me life lessons that I can use on and off the field.”

“Reminding me that football will only take you so far and an education is needed to fall back on.”

For the graduating standout, there are many others that have encouraged, sacrificed, supported and helped him along the way as he pursues his football dreams.

“My father Jean Pierre Cholette, who has always been there for me, paid for all my football seasons, gear and travels and has watched all of my games,” says Shayne. “I couldn’t have done it without him.”

“Also a huge shout out to coaches that have stood by me through my career so far that have told me of the potential I have in the future to come (Coach John, Coach Derek, Coach Pat, Coach Jeff, Coach Timlin, Coach Ralph, Coach Jason, Coach Mike and Sandy R.).”

Whether it’s football or any endeavour away from the field, the student-athlete has always been committed to a high standard of excellence. Shayne is on the honour roll while maintaining a 90 percent average by taking university and mixed courses this semester at school.

“On and off the field I am a hard working student who insists on keeping grades high,” adds the Myers Riders standout.

Once he graduates, Shayne plans to continue playing football while he pursues a degree in theatre studies at university. Overall, the standout wants to be an effective contributor, and leader with any football program he will be part of in the future.

“I am the type of player who is a leader,” says Shayne. “I believe everyone deserves an equal shot to win a spot on the team while being placed in a position that will benefit the team as a whole in the long run.”

“Overall to create the greatest chance to win a championship.”
