Class 2012: Slotback Yan Auger looking for right CIS program

Thetford mines Slotback/Kick Returner Yan Auger is yet ton find where he will pursue his football career.

Yan Auger has been playing football since he started high school. He started his career with le secondaire Duphare in Sherbrooke, QC. Auger began his career as a defensive back before being turned into an offensive player. Yan played 2 years at the Benjamin Level and then 2 in the Cadet level where he was named the team’s offensive MVP and also invited to the junior Alouettes training camp. Yan being younger than all the other players at the camp, still managed to come away with the MVP honours. He then made the decision to play in the Juvenile AAA league the next two years before deciding which CEGEP he would attend. He was named on the leagues all star team and team offensive MVP in his senior year of Juvenile.

Auger was recruited by the Sherbrooke Volontaires and Thetford Mines. He chose to go to Thetford Mines because they could offer him more playing time then Sherbrooke at the time. Yan had a good rookie season having 16 catches for 176 yards and being the team’s starting Kick Returner. Yan was sidelined in his second year due to academic reasons but came back strong in his 3rd season having 29 catches for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns, he also remained the teams Kick Returner.

Auger stands at 5’7 , 155 pound Slotback is known for his explosive speed and great vision. He is known for being able to create big plays when the ball is in his hands. Yan has been talking alot with McGill and also has spoken to Sherbrooke. He is uncertain if his grades will get him with the Redmen.

“To attend McGill, you need some really good grades, I’m working hard but we will see what happens” said Yan.

He plans to attend University in either September of next year but it will most likely be in January of 2013. Yan is unsure of what he will be studying come university.

Yan added that the most influential people in his career have been his fellow Thetford teammates and his coach Duane Liverpool and also his Mother and Family.

“They have all helped me in various ways, Through tough and great times”.
