Class 2012: Vaughn Keeble, DE, King City Lions (Video)

Today, CFC features class 2012 star defensive end from the King City Lions, Vaughn Keeble. Vaughn began his football career with the Lions in grade 9.

Coming from South Africa in 2002, Vaughn first played rugby as a lock with Rugby Ontario. He continued playing the sport for a few more years until he stumbled upon football. Vaughan played with the King City Lions as a defensive tackle in grade 9. In his grade 10 year, he won the most valuable lineman award.

Vaughn has been part of four consecutive York regional championship teams with the Lions from 2008-2011 and was selected to the York Region all-star team in the defensive end position.

This was a successful season for Vaughn with the Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). He was named the defensive MVP of team. Additionally, Vaughn has served as captain for his junior varsity and varsity teams.

This past July, Vaughn was part of Team Ontario East that participated in the Football Canada Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta.

As for his most memorable football moment, Vaughn says that it was the opportunity to play in the Ontario finals at the Rogers Center in his grade 11 year with the Lions.

Vaughn’s strongest influence on his life and football career has been his godfather, Rick Wood.

“Everything I have in football I owe to him,” adds the Lions star player.

Aside from football and rugby, Vaughn also likes to play hockey. As for future career aspirations, he would like to become a civil engineer.

Overall, the future graduate says that he has learned a key lesson in football which he applies to all other aspects of life.

“The more work you put out, the more reward you gain,” says Vaughn.
