Starting his football career at the age of ten, Nicholas Thun has made appearances at many levels of football. His first years brought him to the Burlington Minor Football system where he played two years at a house league level. After being acclimated to the sport, Thun took his talents to the Burlington Junior Braves. While learning many things in the Braves system, Thun had already established himself as a winner and was looking for that next step.
After a short stint with the Braves, Thun joined the Stampeders. While playing for the stamps, he was named captain of his 2009 fall peewee team. 2 seasons later in Junior Varsity, Thun reclaimed the title, and captained his stamps, to 2 undefeated championship seasons.
As a high school player, Thun calls Corpus Christi of Burlington, his home. Playing for the longhorns, he has been fortunate enough to have his high school team experience success, becoming Halton football finalist in 2011. With having one more year of high school football ahead of him, Thun will look to take his Longhorns back to the finals.
Having so much time at different levels, it is no surprise to hear of the awards and accomplishments that Thun calls his own. Captaining 2 teams, being a back to back champions with the Stampeders, making it to the Halton finals, and participating in the 2009 National Youth Football Championships. And more await the 6 foot centre. In may, Thun will participate with some of the top young football players in the country at the Greater Golden Horseshoe Rising Stars.
Like many players at his age, Thun has high hopes and dreams for his football future. While playing football at a CIS level, Thun wishes to pursue a degree in business. The thought of having the ability to play at the CIS level pushes him to be better. And he has no shortage of teams which he would one day like to call home. Such universities as Vanier Cup Champions, McMaster, Western, UBC, and Laurier are just a few schools that are on Thun’s list.
Getting to those universities is not an easy thing to do on your own, but Thun has been fortunate enough to have many coaches and family support him along the way. One connection he may wish to relive at McMaster is with a former coach of his who now works with the Marauders, Dana Segin. “Coach Dana introduced me to football. He provided me with a solid grounding and helped me hone my skills to become the player I am today.β
But like many humble players, Thun’s parents do not get passed by when those who influenced him, gets brought up. “Biggest supporters are my parents. They have inspired and motivated me both on and off the field and in everything I do.β
If you ask Thun what football means to him, he wouldnt tell you its just a game. βFootball has introduced me to some amazing coaches, players, and lifelong friends. It has provided me with the tools to be a team player in all aspects of life.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
