Denis is a player with many acclimation’s to his name, some of which are quite impressive. Denis has been selected for the GHR Rising Stars Team. In grade 11, he was named to the First Team at a high school level. The more impressive note, is that he did so as the only grade 11. And to add to his great accomplishments, Denis has been recruited by schools all through-out the OUA. Surely the big guard will make his presence known somewhere after he graduates from high school next year.
To many players, the biggest moment in their football career comes during a championship moment, and Denis is no exception. “My biggest football moment would have to be winning the regional championship last fall at Notre Dame against our rivals the Lakeshore Gators. Playing on our home field made the championship that much better of a moment. It was a once in a lifetime moment and I wouldn’t trade that feeling for the world.”
To keep going as a player, it takes a lot within to keep going. Money, fame, success are all things that would come at the top of the list for many athletes, however Denis has a different motivation. One that makes him a class act on and off the field. “What motivates me is making my family proud of me and wanting to play at the highest level possible. Im never trying to compare myself with other players. Whether it be on the field or in the weight room, im constantly trying to one up myself to get better as a player and as a person,” Denis says. Along with making himself and family proud, the doubter in his life also pushes this young talent to excel in everything he does. “Another thing that motivates me is people who tell me I cant do something, its stuff like that that gets me fired up to to my best and prove them wrong.”
What football has taught Denis to this point is simple. “Football has taught me that to be successful in life, on the field, and in the classroom, you need discipline, without discipline you cant be successful, and I am a firm believer in that.”
As for what’s to come for Eric Denis after high school is up to him. But mature beyond his years, Denis is simply waiting for his future to unfold. “I Take Football one day at a time, my goal for right now is to train and get prepared for my high school season this fall and to make Team Ontario and hopefully play in the Canada Cup this summer.” A quality education is important for Denis. One he wishes to gain in the CIS or even bigger, the NCAA.
“I wouldn’t have had all my success without my parents, driving me to all the tryouts and combines and practices really takes a lot out of them and I appreciate everything that they do for me.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
