Starting his football career playing in the BMFA, Howard stayed with his alloutte team for two years before moving up to the Stampeders football program. Little did he know, the success in which he was about to endure during his tenure with the red and black. Starting in pee wee, Howard won his first championship in a game against York Simcoe, winning 14-0. On top of a trophy, Howard also took home the Offensive League MVP.

Continuing with the Stamps, Howard’s team went 10-0 in his fall season, coming up short in the semi’s to Markham. In that same game, the powerful running back tore his hamstring, which kept him sidelined for most of the lost. The next year, Howard tried his hand at high school football and immediately took a liking. His Rams went to the championship game, however came up short against an in town rival, Nelson.

With the heartache of his high school championship still on his mind, Howard was poised to take revenge on the football field, and he did just that his next season with the Stamps. Going undefeated, Howard ran his team straight to the championship where he was victorious en route to a 70-21 win. To no surprise, he was named Offensive MVP once again. In his most recent high school season, Howard returned his team to the championship game, however, deja vu set in, and a lost once again came at the hands of Nelson. With his final high school season coming up in the fall, there is no doubt Howard is ready to take his team back to the finals and go home winners.

With such success comes rewards, and Howard has had his few shares. He has been named Offensive MVP 3 times while dawning a football helmet. Twice came as a member of the Stampeders. His 3rd came as a junior on his high school team. Along with being most valuable player, Howard was named by CFC as a player to watch, after his impressive stints with the Stamps.

As humble as a player can be, when lucky enough to be apart of a team with such talent, it is tough to hold back excitement. And when you ask Howard what his most memorable moment of his football career has been so far, it wont take long to see just how excited, and lucky, this young talent is. “Biggest football moment is tough. Most of the games I played for stamps were blowouts. I’d say my first touchdown as a stampeder, because I knew from there, that ,that is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Just keep putting that ball in that end zone!” With all the touchdowns Howard has scored, he knows that with out the men up front, his runs are not possible, but its what he does after the run that makes him special. “I know its all in part to those big guys up front but what I did after I got past them was almost like I felt I was born for it. The feeling of knowing exactly when to cut and spin just fills me up with this feeling of intense energy.”

There are many inspirations in Howard’s life, but he will tell you, it is a man that shares the same passion for the game as he does, that keeps him going. “I just hope the choices I make can somewhat be looked up to if I make it to professional like how I look up to Tim Tebow, he is my idol. Tim Tebow to me is the kind of person that I believe every person should admire and try to mold themselves into,” the running back says. “I really wish that I can influence someone’s life when I am older like he influenced mine and others.”

With one more year of high school still to come, Howard’s football journey may just be getting started. With admiration’s to go pro, nothing is impossible for him, and with the winning attitude, like the one Jonathon Howard possess, the possibilities are endless.

“My biggest dream is to play professional football without a doubt. It’s in me. Every living part is football.”
