While David has suited up for the Newmarket Bucs/Storm of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL), his greatest success came during his time with his high school team, the Bill Crothers Colts of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA).

For the last two seasons, the Colts standout has been team MVP. Moreover, he’s been a team captain during each year of his high school career. Recently, David has been selected to the GTA team which will play in the all-star game on May 6th at MacMaster University.

Within the last few years, David has experienced a couple of special moments on the field.

“My most memorable football moment is either my first catch on a three step slant against Kingston or my first ever touchdown against G.W. Williams Wildcats on a five yard out, which I ran for a 50 yard touchdown,” comments the Colts slotback.

The main, yet steady football and life influence for David has been his father.

β€œHe has always been there for me, taught me most of what I know, he has taken me everywhere and been to almost every game,” says David. β€œHe played junior football but injury ended his career but he has taught me not only football lessons, but life lessons to make me a better player and a better man.”

In the offseason, the Colts standout trains by playing Ultimate Frisbee as it’s a great way to work on cuts, speed and body positioning. As for future plans, David would like to go to university and work towards a Bachelor of Science degree. After he completes the degree, he would like to take a pre-firefighting course, with the hopes of entering the occupation.

Overall, David has learned something very key from the game.

β€œTo be a team, you must work together as a family, and that every day, you must rely on each other to succeed,” explains David. β€œYou must perform the same act over and over again to get it perfect and flawless and I have put these lessons towards my family.”

β€œI realize I need to put them in front of everything; whether it’s helping my brother in school or helping my father after his recent triple bypass surgery. I have practiced football skills on the field many times until it seems second nature and I am trying to apply this to my school work as well.”
