Class 2013: Offensive Lineman Andre Goguen looking at next level (video)

Andre Goguen has became one of the most dominant Offensive lineman in New Brunswick high school football. After being named an all star both in 2010 and 2011, Andre wants to pursue his career after high school.

Andre began playing football in the Moncton football association and instantly fell in love with the game of football. He began his high school football career in grade 9 with Les Olympiens de L’OdyssĆ©e in grade 9. He opted to play high school at a very young age because he thought that it would help him in the long run.

“Many of my friends asked my why i did not play bantam, I thought that playing with older and better football players would help me become a better player” said Goguen.

Andre’s decision proved to be the right one as he has become one of the best Offensive Lineman in the province and has attracted attention from many CIS and cegep programs. Goguen is still unsure of where he wants to head after high school as he still has one year left with the Olympiens. Andre was named the league’s top offensive lineman this year and has been an all star in both 2010 and 2011.

Andre has also spent time with team New Brunswick in the summer of 2011 and is hoping to do the same this year. His best football Memory came in june of 2011 when they beat a team from QuĆ©bec (Beauce region all stars) to show that New Brunswick’s football community is indeed growing.

“It was nice to show people that we have good talent here in New Brunswick, being a small province and such, people sometimes think that our football programs are weaker, it was nice to show that we could play with anyone”.

The provincial team will be heading to this summer’s Football Canada Cup. It is the first time since 2002 that New Brunswick will be sending a team to the event. Goguen thinks that they have a great group of committed players that work well together. He is hoping to earn a spot on the team. He expects team NB to have a good tournament and show the country that there is talent in his province.

“The (Football) Canada Cup is gonna be something very special to be a part of, it’s something i have been dreaming about since i started playing football, I hope i get the chance to play in the tournament”.

Andre added that without his position coach and now Offensive Coordinator Serge Bourque, he would not be the player or the person that he is today.

“Serge is someone that takes time with every one of his players to make them reach there full potential, he teaches you about the game and along the way, he makes you a better person” .

Andre will be enrolling into Business when the time comes to further his education. He has not made up his mind but has started looking at his options for the next level. He says he will make his decision when the moment is right. For now, he wants to remain focused on winning a high school grid title and the upcoming Football Canada Cup.
