The standout experienced the highlight of his football career with the Lions this past season.

“My most memorable football experience would be in grade 12 when we won the YRAA championship versus Huron Heights,” says Shawn who’s also suited up for the York Simcoe Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). “We won by a field goal and the score was 10-9.”

In 2011, the Lions star tackle was acknowledged for his talents on the field. He was selected as an YRAA all-star. Moreover, Shawn has been selected to the GTA Currents team that will participate in the all-star game on May 6th at McMaster University.

Reaching the pinnacle of his football career would not have been possible for Shawn without the backing of his parents.

“Without them none of my football success would be possible,” explains the Lions tackle, who also plays hockey and ball hockey. “They push me to do my best and help keep me motivated to reach my goals.”

“They’re the best parents in the world.”

Hard work is the one thing that has been a big reason Shawn has achieved all his football and life dreams.

“If football has taught me anything is that hard work will get you anywhere,” comments Shawn. “You have to put your heart and soul into everything you do, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem, a lot of smalls add up to something big.”

“It’s not so much what you do; it’s how you do it.”
