In a football player, you want someone who has heart, well grounded, and knows the game he loves. Jadon Johnson has all those things, but he is also a superb athlete, and one who is already well decorated. Graduating in 2013, the high schooler has already done so much. Johnson’s accomplishments include making Team Ontario last year, winning defensive MVP in his first Canada Cup game, and in 2009 won MVP for his Brampton Bulldogs.

Along with all his accomplishments throughout football, Jadon’s athleticism has been showcased through track where he has won gold at the Provincial Finals (OFSAA) in 4 x 100m relay, and claimed Junior Male Athlete of the year for his school in 2011.

While at the Canada Cup in 2011, Jadon also won the 40-yard dash skill competition. With a 4.4 40 yd time, there is no denying that this young prospect is fast.

Along with having the pure athleticism, Jadon also posses an appreciation for the game. A game changer him self, looking back at his most recent football season with the d’Youville Panthers, his most memorable memory of his short career to date, involves individual play at its finest. “My biggest football moment was this year the d’Youville Panthers beat St. Marcellinus Spirits in senior football. In this game we were up 10-7 and we had to come out with a 12 point lead over St. Marcellinus in order to advance to the play offs,” the young star says. “I went in as running back and scored a 50 yard running touchdown, then another 65 yard running touchdown to give us a 23-7 lead over St. Marcellinus. The Panthers played extremely well and stopped any other points from being scored against us, this gave us the first win in d’Youville history over St. Marcellinus.”

Although many of Jadon’s great moments have come at running back, his defensive presence may be even better then what he can do offensively. Even Jadon himself would say his biggest football accomplishment so far involved a moment of when he was on D. ” My biggest football accomplishment I think was when I won the defensive MVP for Team Ontario west in the first game. I think this was my biggest accomplishment because I was one of the youngest players on the team that year, and I feel the team played extremely well and we had very good athletes. I was extremely honored to accept this award and will never forget that moment.”

Having done all the things, many at a young age, it often comes down to the people who are around that make the biggest difference and in Jadon’s life, that is no exception. “My parents have played a key role in my life especially when it come to football. My parents are extremely supportive and do almost whatever it takes to get me where I need to be and what I need to help better myself. They don’t push me to do anything i don’t want to do but they do advise me about what it best for myself. I am grateful for having the parents I do and I know I would not be where I am without them.”

Perhaps the football blood that runs through his body is the same that runs through his brother, who himself has had success in the sport. “My brother Kalvin has a football career of his own but takes the time to help me improve on my football skill and teaches me what he has learned from playing football at the next level. Kalvin and I have a very close bond not only as brother but as friends and I am lucky to have a brother who wants to help me succeed.”

Support from grandparents, former teachers, and coaches have all played a special role in his life and his journey through football. “They have made me a better player and a better person, and for that I am grateful.”

As for what’s next, the possibilities seem endless. Attending the Canada Cup, becoming an All star, and winning the whole tournament with his team, is at the top of his list. Upon completing high school, Jadon hopes to graduate with a scholarship, and fortunately for Canadian Universities, would like to take his path through the CIS. ” I want to graduate high school on a scholarship and attend university. I want to get my bachelor of arts degree then go to law school to get my law degree.”

Big plans for what is going to undoubtedly be a big star.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
