Over the years, Steven has shown his defensive talents while suiting up for many different teams. He played Tier 1 high school football for the John Pocock Pirates, the Mississauga Warriors of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OMFL) and the Mississauga Thundering Herd. The next move will be to play with the varsity Etobicoke Eagles (OVFL).

Winning the OMFL championship title with the Warriors in 2008 has been the greatest, yet special achievement for the star linebacker.

“It was so memorable because we were tied and the quarterback was a really good scrambler as he tried to scramble and I sacked him as he was rolling at him being the hot head he is spiked the ball and got a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct putting us in wonderful field position to score the game winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.”

During his career, Steven has been honoured for his impressive, yet powerful play on the field. Among the honours he’s received include team MVP, team defensive MVP, and team rookie of the year. Recently, the standout has been selected to the GTA Rising Stars team that will play in the all-star game slated for May 6[SUP]th[/SUP] at McMaster University.

Additionally, Steven has impressive testing results: 7 reps at 225 lbs, 6 reps at 315 squat, 6 reps at 315 deadlift and 4.9 seconds in the 40 yard dash.

Being able to achieve major gridiron feats would not have been at all possible without the encouragement and support of his coaches and parents.

“My coaches that have really helped me, especially my coach Dwayne Rich from the summer,” adds the Pirates star linebacker. “He is a really good defensive back coach, made me a whole lot better safety then I was before and he really pushed me and the other defensive backs to becoming better, smarter, and stronger overall players.”

“I would also say my parents really helped me by taking me to all my games and practices and supporting me with this sport.”

The gridiron has taught Steven about sportsmanship and discipline.

“I have learned a lot from football because it has taught me control my temper, focus my anger and use it during the game cleanly to my advantage to play well,” explains Steven. “That has really made me a much calmer person which will help me in my future.”
