Temba has made his presence known while playing for his high school team, the Don Bosco Eagles and with the Etobicoke Eagles of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). During his time with the Eagles, Temba served as team captain.

In 2011, he was team lineman of the year. Most recently, the offensive tackle was selected to the GTA Rising Stars team that will participate in the upcoming all-star game at McMaster University on May 6th.

While playing at Don Bosco, Temba experienced the highlight of his young football career when the Eagles were junior city championship finalists.

“We went undefeated and then lost the last game, but to win as many games as we did, it was something special,” adds Temba of the experience.

NFL star Ray Lewis has influenced the offensive tackle in many ways.

“I love Ray Lewis because he is such a great player to watch and to listen too,” explains Temba. “He is a tremendous leader for the Baltimore Ravens and he always encourages his teammates to not only do great on the football field, but life in general.”

As for motivation and inspiration, he looks no further than his mother.

“My mom always encourages me to work hard and never let go of my dream,” comments the Eagles standout, who likes to play video games in his spare time. “She worked hard to get her master’s degree from York University.”

There are many long term goals that Temba has set for himself. One of them is to hopefully be able to attend York University. Another is to play football at the university level and eventually in the NFL ranks. If football does not work out for him, the offensive tackle would like to either become a police officer or social worker.

Leadership and the concept of team are two things the standout has learned from football.

“I have learned that as part of being a good leader, I have amassed extreme patience with my teammates, and I am also calm in tense situations,” says Temba. “I have also learned that there is truly no “I” in team.”
