Coaching Staff named for Team BC U18 squad

FOOTBALL BC ANNOUNCES COACHING STAFF FOR PROVINCIAL UNDER-18 TEAM TO COMPETE AT 2012 FOOTBALL CANADA CUP

Football BC announced today the coaching staff for the provincial under-18 team (β€œTeam BC”) that will represent British Columbia at the 2012 Football Canada Cup slated to be held at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario from July 15 – 21, 2012.

The 2012 Team BC coaching staff features six returning members from the 2011 bronze medal winning club including Tom Kudaba, co-head coach of BC High School Football’s Terry Fox Ravens, who will be serving as head coach and offensive line coach for a third consecutive year.


Other returning members from last year’s staff are offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jay Prepchuk (Handsworth Royals), defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Dino Geremia (Football BC/Simon Fraser University), receivers coach Mark Townsend (Mt. Douglas Rams), defensive backs coachAlexis Sanschagrin (Belmont Bulldogs) and defensive line coach Ray Moon (South Delta Sun Devils).

The lone newcomer to the staff this year is Jerome Erdman as special teams coordinator and running backs coach. Erdman, a former CFL player who won the Grey Cup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1984, is currently the defensive coordinator for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

The 2012 Football Canada Cup is open to players born in 1995 or 1996. Eligible players who are interested in being part of Team BC must attend an upcoming tryout session in January or February. The schedule of upcoming tryout sessions is available at:

Open to all football players at the appropriate age in British Columbia. All players must arrive 30 minutes before the tryout start time to register and pay the $10 tryout fee and complete bench reps. Helmets and shoulder pads are required for each player in the second half of the tryout. No pads are required for Prep to be the Best participants.

Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for indoor and outdoor workouts. If
the weather is permitting, evaluations may take place outside.

NOTE FOR INTERESTED SENIOR BOWL PARTICIPANTS:

If you were named a Provincial All-Star (AA or AAA) by BC High School Football in 2011 OR you were named to the Star Bowl team by BC Community Football AND you are currently in Grade 12, you are automatically invited to Senior Bowl camp.

The 2012 Senior Bowl camp will take place during Spring Break week in March. The camp portion will run from Tuesday, March 20 to Friday, March 23 at the BC Lions Training Facility located in Surrey with the Senior Bowl game to take place on Saturday, March 24 (location TBD).
