Atoms redeem COMFL loss to win championship

The Atom Stampeders finished off their season in style on Saturday capturing the Litzen bowl (Ontario AA Championship) title against the Twin Cities Predators. Burlington’s power running game proved too much to handle for the Twin Cities team.

Justin Gec rolled his hard work from last week’s COMFL championship right into this week’s match up. Gec was named player of the game in the league championship one week ago due to his hard running and stellar defense. He finished this week’s game with 119 rushing yards, a touchdown, one quarterback sack and eight solo tackles. Teammate Zack Ihasz also had a standout game on both sides of the ball. Ihasz galloped for 101 rushing yards and two tds while also taking the show airborne firing off a 45 yard touchdown pass to tight end, Kenny Sproat.
Later in the second half, Burlington decided they needed to award one of the defensive linemen for all of his hard work throughout the season. Tyler Milford, the youngest Stampeder, took advantage of his opportunity and was able to power in a touchdown late in the third quarter.
β€œTyler is little guy and we used this to our advantage. We put all of our big linemen and running backs out in front and told him to follow and stay close, and he did.” said head coach, Jordan Johnston. β€œI couldn’t be happier with the way this season concluded. I am very proud of my players”
