Commit returning to York area, joins Lions

York adds a GTA commit to their 2018 class.

Ayden Amestoy, a running back from M.M Robinson High School, is returning to a place he is oh-so-familiar with after signing with the York Lions.

“I chose to commit to York because I actually used to live within the York region growing up. I am familiar with the area and it will be nice to go back,” Amestoy said. “Everything about the school was really nice when I went on my visit. Coming from a small high school, I am looking to go to a big university.”

Amestoy, who is interested in communications, was impressed with the team’s coaching staff. He said they were amazing when he met with them. “Every one of them seemed as if they were players’ coaches and try and connect with each player as best they can. It seems as if they care about their players, which was a big part in my commitment,” he added.

Standing at 5’6, 150lbs, he spent three years with the Burlington Stampeders (OFC) and four with the M.M. Robison Rams (HSSAA). In 2016, Amestoy was the Ram’s offensive player of the year. He was the Ram’s MVP of the 2017 season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
