Costanzo to leave Gee-Gees coaching staff

After four seasons with the Gee-Gees football program, Luigi Costanzo announced yesterday that he will be leaving his coaching duties at the University of Ottawa.

Costanzo had most recently served as the team’s recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach. The Ottawa native also worked as the special teams coordinator, alumni outreach coordinator, and running backs coach during his tenure, which began in the 2010 season.

“I have enjoyed the many relationships I have made during my time with the Gee-Gees football program,” said Costanzo. “I want to thank my colleagues, the coaches and the young men of the program I’ve worked with over the years for their support, camaraderie and hard work.”

“Luigi has shown outstanding commitment to the student-athletes he coached,” said Luc Gélineau, director of Sports Services. “His contributions in various roles over the past four off-seasons have been vital and we thank him for his work.”

“Coach Costanzo has been a dedicated and loyal member of the University of Ottawa football program,” added head coach Jamie Barresi. “He has been a tireless worker – we wish him the best of luck.”

The Gee-Gees 2014 football season begins with a home game on Monday, September 1 against the York Lions.
