Danny Maciocia to stay with the Carabins

Danny Maciocia, head coach of the Montreal Carabins confirmed that he will remain at UdeM. It puts an end to the rumours of the past two weeks about him becoming the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes.

“I met with owner Robert Wetenhall and Vice-President, General Manager, Director of Operations and Player Personnel Jim Popp out of respect for them”, said Maciocia.Β  “As a former coach with the Alouettes, I feel that I am part of their alumni. They gave me my first chance in the professional ranks and it was the least that I could do, to meet and discuss the situation.

“I informed them that I was not planning a return to the professional ranks. Our discussions were very cordial and I sincerely thank them for their interest in me and for their understanding.”

“Since I agreed to join the Carabins a little more than two years ago, I do not have any regrets. This is the ideal environment for me and my family”, said the father of three girls aged 13, 9 and 5 years.Β  “From the beginning, I have the support and confidence of Carabins management and that means a lot to me. We have the same vision and the same goals.”
