Two OUA teams in contention for Thunder Bay running back

Speed and camps are the name of the game this summer for St Ignatius Falcons running back Jake Puskas.

“The recruitment process has been a little stressful and difficult because of where I am from,” comments Jake. “But it’s nothing more than a little more hard work to become known.”

In late July the running back plans to visit a few universities in the States, and has also made plans to visit a few Canadian universities while he is in London for the Western Summer Camp.

“I hope to visit Queens, Western, McMaster  and the University of British Colombia in the early fall,” adds Jake.

Although Jake knows that there is more to university than football. He plans to go through university and then apply to medical school, which he hopes will lead him to being an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in trauma and spinal surgery.

Both his academic and athletic goals follow the example of the most influential person in his football career.

“My friend Thomas is the most influential person to me because of how hard he’s worked to be where he is now academically and physically.”

Likewise, the most influential person in his life is his father, who keeps him driving forward to reach his full potential.

Aside from football, Jake has represented his province and country at national and international levels for downhill ski racing.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
